The UK Tropical Peatlands Working Group is an informal consortium of researchers with interests in peatlands in South and Central America, Africa, and SE Asia.
The group has held six meetings since March 2012, kindly hosted by the Universities of Leicester and Nottingham. The aim of the meetings has been to share results and experience, with a particular focus on interdisciplinary working.
The research interests of the group include: ecology and palaeoecology; remote sensing; carbon accounting and trace gas fluxes; peat geochemistry; the long-term development of tropical peatlands; and not least, socio-economic aspects of peatland management and conservation.
We have jointly published a review paper in Wetlands Ecology and Management.
There is no formal membership list; if you would like to be informed about future meetings, please get in touch.
